Katie Hargitt

Katie began racing quarter midgets at nine years old.  From 2001 to 2008 she attended Lyn St. James’ Women in the Winner’s Circle and St. James’ Driver Development in 2005 and 2006. She eventually moved on to Kenyon and Ford Focus midgets with USAC.  From the moment she started winning races, the sport took hold of her.  Racing became not just a hobby, but an addiction.  After driving for 11 years, she steered her goal towards reporting.
Race tracks are a second home for Hargitt. Since leaving the driver’s seat Hargitt has hosted “Kickin’ it with Katie” during USAC’s 2012 Indiana Sprint Week and was a pit reporter for D1 Mopar midgets with USAC at the Indianapolis Speedrome in 2011.
During the summers of 2011 and 2012 Hargitt interned with the sports department at Fox 59 helping write scripts, edit packages and interview.
In 2012, Hargitt had the opportunity to begin traveling the NASCAR circuit ?with ESPN as a runner. In 2013,Hargitt reported from the pits for the IZOD IndyCar series season opener at the Honda Indy Grand Prix of St. Pete with IndyCar Radio.
In May 2013, Hargitt graduated from Ball State University with a dual degree in Telecommunications and Journalism.

She now lives out her dream traveling with the Verizon IndyCar Series as a pit reporter for both IndyCar and IndyLights on NBCSN. She also produces and hosts a web show, #UpToSpeed, on IndyCar.com and serves as a member of the public address team at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
