Dave Furst leaving WRTV-6 post as sports director for IndyCar PR position

Dave Furst, who for nearly two decades has led the sports team at WRTV-Channel 6, is leaving his position for a job in the sport he, arguably, loves most: IndyCar.
Furst, who came to the station in 1997 as a sports reporter and five years later was named sports director of WRTV-6, is also part of the IndyCar Radio Network.
Now, he has been named the racing series’ vice president of communications.
“It was 23 years as a steward for an office once held by the legendary Tom Carnegie,” Furst said in a text to IndyStar. “Barely a day went by when I didn’t think about that. But I’m unbelievably excited to join the talent team at the IndyCar series. It’s really an exciting time with the Penske acquisition.”
