Upcoming testing prior to Long Beach Race April 9th…
The next time the Verizon IndyCar Series is on track for a race-weekend is for the start of the Toyota Grand Prix Of Long Beach weekend on Friday, April 7, 2017, however, the testing calendar between now and then is very busy.
A number of teams make the quick turn from Birmingham, Ala. to Speedway Ind. for a Honda manufacturer test this Saturday (March 25, 2017) on the 2.5 mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval. Chip Ganassi Racing (Max Chilton, Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan and Charlie Kimball), Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (Graham Rahal), and Schmidt Peterson Motorsports (James Hinchcliffe and Mikhail Aleshin) will all be tuning up for the 101st Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil. On March 28, 2017 the Andretti Autosport foursome of Takuma Sato, Marco Andretti, Ryan Hunter-Reay and Alexander Rossi will be testing at Sebring International Raceway.
It’s Chevrolet’s turn for a manufacturer test on the 2.5 mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval on April Fools Days. A.J. Foyt Racing (Conor Daly and Carlos Munoz), Ed Carpenter Racing (Ed Carpenter and J.R. Hildebrand) and Team Penske (Helio Castroneves, Josef Newgarden, Simon Pagenaud, and Will Power) are all scheduled to participate.
The Honda racing HI17TT powered teams head west to Sonoma Raceway for testing on April 4, 2017. Andretti Autosport (Takuma Sato, Marco Andretti, Ryan Hunter-Reay and Alexander Rossi), Dale Coyne Racing (Sebastien Bourdais and Ed Jones), Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (Graham Rahal), and Schmidt Peterson Motorsports (James Hinchcliffe and Mikhail Aleshin) will all be taking part. The Chip Ganassi Racing foursome of Max Chilton, Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan and Charlie Kimball will also be testing, but it will count as a team test day.
